It is not limited to visiting the different rooms of the centre, which covers almost 800 square metres, but extends to exploring the varied local tourist offer, with an emphasis on the wineries that form part of the Condado de Huelva Wine Route Product Club.
Casa de la Cultura Odón Betanzos
Located in the heart of Rociana del Condado, the Odón Betanzos Palacios Cultural Centre is one of the most representative cultural spaces in the municipality. Its name pays tribute to the distinguished writer, academic and poet Odón Betanzos Palacios, one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Spanish-language literature, with an extensive international career and a deep commitment to the culture of his homeland.
The Casa de la Cultura is also the headquarters of local associations and a key venue for the development of educational, social and cultural projects promoted by the Rociana del Condado Town Council. Its role as a space open to the public reinforces its importance as a driving force for socio-cultural revitalisation in the region.
The building was inaugurated in 1986 as a space dedicated to the promotion of culture, art and literature. Since then, it has established itself as the main centre for cultural life in Rociana, hosting a varied programme of activities throughout the year, including exhibitions, conferences, theatre, literary presentations and educational workshops.
A three-storey Baroque building constructed in the 18th century on the site of a former 15th-century Dominican convent. It is topped by a Baroque half-orange dome decorated with frescoes by the Huelva painter Juan Manuel Núñez Báñez. Parque botánico José Celestino Mutis
The José Celestino Mutis Botanical Park, inaugurated on 15 March 1993, is a 12-hectare botanical garden dedicated to the famous botanist José Celestino Mutis from Cadiz, who led the Royal Botanical Expedition to the New Kingdom of Granada (now Colombia) for more than three decades. It was conceived as a tribute to the historical and scientific ties between Spain and America, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America.
The park’s design features undulating terrain, with paths leading to various themed squares and ponds that are home to a rich variety of flora from the five continents. Of particular note are the collections of plants from the Iberian Peninsula and South America, which reflect the historical and scientific connection between the two continents. In addition, the park has a 500 m² greenhouse that houses an exotic tropical forest and a collection of cacti, offering an immersive experience in global botanical diversity.
This natural space is not only a place for recreation and learning, but also a living testimony to the scientific and cultural legacy shared between Spain and America. Its strategic location, close to the Monastery of La Rábida and the Muelle de las Carabelas (Wharf of the Caravels) and between two protected natural areas, makes it an essential stop for those who wish to delve into the history of the Discovery and appreciate the natural wealth that unites both worlds.
Museo naval Vicente Yáñez Pinzón
The Vicente Yáñez Pinzón Naval Museum, inaugurated on 15 August 2014 in the historic centre of Palos de la Frontera, is a cultural space dedicated to maritime history and the legacy of the navigators who participated in the discovery of America. Its inauguration coincided with the 500th anniversary of the death of the distinguished sailor Vicente Yáñez Pinzón and the feast day of the Virgin of Miracles, patron saint of Palos de la Frontera.
The museum is located in the former Hospital de la Misericordia, also known as the Hospital de Sangre, a 15th-century building that originally provided medical care to sailors embarking from the Port of Palos. This Renaissance-style building, with a whitewashed façade and Mudejar elements, was restored by the Palos de la Frontera Town Council to house the museum.
This museum offers a unique opportunity to delve into the maritime history of Palos de la Frontera and understand the fundamental role played by its sailors in the expansion of transatlantic navigation during the Modern Age.

Casa Martín Alonso Pinzón
The Martín Alonso Pinzón House Museum is a 15th-century Renaissance building that belonged to the Pinzón family, renowned for their participation in Columbus’s voyage. This house was the birthplace of brothers Martín Alonso, Vicente Yáñez and Francisco Martín Pinzón, who played an essential role in organising and carrying out Christopher Columbus’s project to reach the East via the West.
The façade of the house, dating from the 16th century, features a niche framed by two small columns and tiles similar to those glazed by the Polido family in Triana around 1540. The building has two floors and a rear courtyard, with load-bearing rammed earth walls and brick pilasters, and large openings closed with basket-handle arches.
In 1969, the house became the property of the Palos de la Frontera Town Council, which restored it in collaboration with the Andalusian Regional Government to convert it into a museum.
The museum offers a recreation of life in the 15th century, with a rich collection of furniture, documents and an explanatory video on the history of the Pinzón brothers and their relationship with Christopher Columbus. Among the objects on display are navigational instruments, ancient maps, replica ships and historical documents that bear witness to the exploits of the navigators of the time.
In addition, the house houses a copy of Christopher Columbus’s logbook translated into Spanish, as well as important documents and objects relating to the participation of the town of Palos de la Frontera in the discovery of America.

Muelle de las Carabelas
The Wharf of the Caravels is one of the most emblematic sites on the Route of Columbus’ Landmarks and a landmark in the province of Huelva in terms of historical and cultural dissemination. Opened in 1994 to mark the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America, it is located in La Rábida, very close to the place from which the three caravels set sail in 1492.
This site features a faithful recreation of the ships that made the ocean voyage that changed the course of history: the Santa María, the Pinta and the Niña. Built in the shipyards of Isla Cristina and Punta Umbría between 1990 and 1992, these replicas allow visitors to climb aboard and learn about the sailing conditions of the time, as well as the organisation and resources of the expedition.
The museum complex surrounding the pier includes an interpretation centre, a recreation of a medieval Castilian port, a 15th-century port town and a space called ‘Isla del Encuentro’ (Island of Encounter), which evokes the first contact between Europeans and the indigenous peoples of America. All this makes the Muelle de las Carabelas an immersive and educational experience that highlights not only the historical events of Columbus’ first voyage, but also the cultural and human consequences that resulted from that encounter between worlds.
Due to its historical accuracy, accessibility and visual appeal, the Muelle de las Carabelas has established itself as one of the most visited places in western Andalusia and an essential stop for those who wish to understand the significance of the 1492 voyage.
Centro de interpretación del Condado de Huelva

This exhibition space serves as a gateway to the territory, offering a panoramic view of its municipalities, traditions and tourist resources.
The centre is organised into several themed rooms that allow visitors to take a tour of the county’s main attractions: from its unique historical and artistic heritage, marked by Roman, Arab and medieval influences, to its natural treasures, with areas such as the Doñana environment and the banks of the River Tinto. It also highlights the intangible heritage, with references to wine-making traditions, Holy Week, local cuisine and popular folklore.

Centro de arte Miguel Tenorio Tirado
Located in Plaza de España, the Miguel Tenorio Tirado Art Centre was inaugurated in 2023 as an exhibition space that seeks to showcase the artistic expression of creators from La Palma del Condado, although it also hosts exhibitions of interest outside the local area.
The space was created with the intention of being a starting point for future artists from La Palma who want to grow and make themselves known, so that their works have the visibility they deserve.
100 Years of Art in La Palma del Condado was the inaugural exhibition, and it has been joined by others such as the Birth of the El Templo Association of Nativity Scene Makers and the exhibition on the figure and work of Manuel Summers, among others.
In addition, the Municipal Tourist Information Office is located here, serving as a meeting point for the tourist routes designed by the Palmerino council.
Centro de interpretación Cruces de Mayo
Located in the heart of the municipality, the Bonares May Crosses Interpretation Centre is a space created to highlight one of the most deeply rooted and unique traditions in Western Andalusia: the celebration of the May Crosses, declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia.
This centre offers a unique tour of this popular, religious and artistic event that every May brings together residents and visitors around twelve crosses, each with its own history, aesthetics and symbolism. Through audiovisual resources, information panels and interactive materials, visitors can learn about the origin of the festival, the process of constructing and decorating each cross, as well as the elements that make up the identity of each neighbourhood.
This space also displays the work carried out by the mayors and stewards of the twelve Cruces de Mayo over the years, reflecting the dedication, affection, creativity and effort that each one puts into the creation of their beautiful chapels. In addition, a careful selection of godfather and godmother costumes used by different pilgrims of the Cruz del Romero is on display, as an essential part of this celebration.
Visiting the Bonares May Crosses Interpretation Centre not only allows you to appreciate the beauty and detail of each cross, but also to understand the profound cultural and social value of this tradition, which is part of the soul of Bonares and is proudly passed down from generation to generation.
